Packing Out

Nine days to go and everything is packed. I have gone light on the clothing and the cooking -emergency only- but still carry forty-four pounds. I have taken warm-weather clothing for the early part of the trip that I plan on shipping home once I am east of the mountain ranges. The list follows.

Camping

  • Goose down sleeping bag (warm weather) and flannel sleeper: camping pillow and pillowcase.
  • Therm-a-rest sleeping mat, tent, and ground cover.
  • Cooking tin, drinking/measuring cup, cleaning materials, beef stew and oatmeal.
Cycling Equipment
  • Inner-tubes(3), tire, spokes, brake shoes
  • Mini tool kit, knife, rag, electrical tape
  • Bicycle Pump, patch kit, lubricant
  • Dog Deterrent, panniers, handlebar bag, tool bag
Cycling Clothing
  • Cycling shoes with four pairs of socks and sock liner
  • Sleveless jerseys (2) and short sleve jersey
  • Cycling pants (2)
  • Cycling glasses
  • Long sleve cool-weather shirt
  • Thermal shirt (1)
  • Leg and arm warmers
  • Shoe covers
  • Cycling gloves (3 pairs) including one for cold weather
  • Bandanas and head scarfs (4)
  • Rain jacket
  • Helmet
Other Clothing
  • Underwear (2)
  • Shorts with sewn-in mesh
  • Trail cargo zip-off pants
  • Short sleve shirts (2)
  • Long-sleve cool-max
  • Sandals and hat.
  • Polar fleece sweater
  • Windbreaker.
The Rest
  • Camera, Cell Phone, Garmen, Telescope, MP3 Player, and memory sticks (2).
  • First aid kit, ear-plugs, nail-clipper, shaving and washing kit, microfiber towels, bug repellent, sun block.
  • Clothes-line and pegs, first-aid kit,
  • Maps, chamois cream and utter-butter.
  • Cyclomax additive, gue, Fig-Newtons, and two packages of sunflower seeds.
  • Fannypack.
  • Reading book and diary.
